Street Fighter Alpha 2, released in February 1996 in Europe, refined the Alpha system introduced in its predecessor. It retained the three-level Super Combo meter but enhanced the overall gameplay experience. New characters and stages were added to increase the content. Capcom built upon the success of Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams, enhancing the graphics, improving the animation and refining the mechanics. The game retained its focus on the backstory of the Street Fighter series.
